The Giovanni Simonetti & Sons, general partnership, the first of '900 starts its business activities with the processing of agricultural products of the family business in canned food under the brand SALP. The business suffers a temporary interruption during World War II; in the first postwar production is resumed, when the Giovanni Simonetti & Sons began to diversify its activities; Giancarlo, in the early '50s, decided to start producing wood frames branded SALIS (Public limited company manufacturing frames and shutters). The reconstruction in the country creates a strong demand for manufactured goods for construction and therefore is detected in the production of frames a new business.
The production cycle is completed by the sawing of logs, cutting, shaping, planing, assembling and painting of each part of the fixture. Soon the company specializes only in producing wood rolling shutters and the reference market is now the capital, and of course the local one. Meanwhile the market overlooks rolling shutters in PVC ,well known for their light weight and low maintenance.
The aim is then on innovation, so that they begin to use this new material.
The plants are full-cycle and continuous , production increases significantly and the company soon becomes an important industry in Umbria region. In the '80s, Giovanni, Paolo, Francesco and Carlo, Giancarlo's sons, fit in the business, the company is revitalized by converting production again, back to work focusing on the wood floors. They buy new equipment and study production lines that allow to significantly reduce manual intervention and thus begin to produce wood floors. In 1986 Simonetti Giovanni & Sons s.n.c.  bestows its activity on Salis remaining active as a real estate and financial company; this is how Salis s.r.l. was born. Salis has worked since then and has changed many things, but not love that nourishes towards wood. Even today it is among the leading companies in the field of wooden floors, Salis feels a strong desire to know and learn. The efficiency of the most advanced and sophisticated industrial technology is combined with the artisan experience, inherited by our fathers.
